Home Staging, an ally to sell your house

Are you thinking about selling your house ? Do you know what home staging is? No? Then you can't miss this post.

What is Home Staging?

Home Staging literally means “staging the home or house.” It is a real estate sales technique that began to be used in the 1970s in the United States, Australia and Canada. As its name suggests, it consists of preparing the home so that it is visually attractive to the buyer.

There is a decorative component to this technique, that is obvious, but home staging takes into account, above all, the need to update or improve those broken or outdated elements. In short, it is about optimizing the home in order to be able to sell it.

How is this technique used?

Home staging techniques include, first of all, cleaning and tidying the house. A neglected and cluttered home will not be attractive to potential buyers. Therefore, the first thing to do is to remove all unnecessary items. Everything must be in its place, in order and harmony.

Secondly, home staging consists of repairing everything that is broken or does not work, blinds, windows, taps, cupboards... It is about updating the home as much as possible. Sometimes, with a minimal investment, we can increase the value of the property.

As far as decoration is concerned, specialists in this technique recommend “depersonalizing” the home, so that it is welcoming and adaptable to more buyers. Go for simplicity and sobriety.

Experts say that by applying home staging techniques, the time to market is reduced by around 80% and the sale price of the property can be increased.
