Record year
The price of new housing in Spain (less than 5 years old) has experienced a record 2017, specifically the annual increase of 5% is the highest rise since 2007, the last year of the real estate boom.
In addition, in the second half of the year it has doubled its growth to 3%, compared to 1.7% obtained during the first six months of the year.
New housing prices by Autonomous Communities
The price is not uniform throughout Spain. Catalonia is the region with the highest prices, an average of 3,452 euros/m 2 . It is followed by the Community of Madrid with 3,167 euros/m 2 , being the only two regions that exceed the 3,000 euro barrier in the price of new housing.
In contrast, Extremadura is the region with the lowest price for new housing, with an average of 1,148 euros/ m2 . Murcia and La Rioja are the following communities with the cheapest m2 , with 1,206 euros/ m2 and 1,355 euros/ m2 respectively.
New housing prices by city
Barcelona is the provincial capital with the most expensive land for new housing, an average of 3,865 euros/m 2 . San Sebastián is in second place with 3,441 euros/m 2 and Madrid is the third city with the highest price at 3,167 euros/m 2 .
On the other hand, Badajoz with 1,155 euros/ m2 , Cáceres with 1,138 euros/ m2 and Ciudad Real with 1,160 euros/ m2 are the capitals with the lowest data on the price of new housing.
